The ‘Dubai Cares’ campaign, meant to drive the U.N. Millennium Development Goal to achieve universal primary education by 2015, will receive an extra boost as proceeds from the auction of two prime Dubai World Central (DWC) plots in Jebel Ali will be donated to the noble cause.

The auction will take place on Tuesday 6th of November at the Dubai Land Department.

DWC - the huge 140 square kilometre urban land development under construction in Jebel Ali - has received massive international investor interest as Dubai World Central International Airport (JXB), set to be the world’s largest airport, goes live with initial operations in 2009.

‘Dubai World Central is one of the UAE’s most crucial projects designed to support Dubai’s aviation, tourism, commercial and logistics requirements until 2050,’ said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Aviation Corporation - Dubai World Central.

‘Donating to the ‘Dubai Cares’ campaign is part of our corporate social responsibility.

‘We hope the auction, of what will one day be among the region’s most expensive realty, will generate an amount that will top off the already impressive amount raised to educate a million poor children around the world.’

Two plots of around 29,000 square feet each within DWC Residential City will be up for an auction conducted by the Dubai Land Department. Each plot can have a built-up area of up to 71,480 square feet extended over seven floors.

Khalid bin Harib, CEO Real Estate of DWC said: ‘With phase one of DWC Residential City sold out within 24 hours, we expect our well-wishers and investors alike to participate in this auction as part of their responsibility to give back to society.’
